When someone asks ChatGPT "best restaurants in Santa Barbara for a weekend trip" or tells Google Assistant "find me a rooftop bar near the waterfront," AI pulls from websites it can actually read and trust. Here's why most local spots get skipped — and what I fix.

Issue #1

Menu & Hours Buried in PDFs

Most business websites link to a PDF menu or a static image for hours. AI crawlers can't read either. ChatGPT, Google AI, and Yelp's AI summaries skip you entirely — and recommend the place down the street whose information is actual readable text.

I build menus, hours, and offerings as readable HTML that AI can actually parse.

Issue #2

No Tourism Schema Markup

Schema markup tells AI tools your business's type, price range, ambiance, and neighborhood. Without it, AI can't place you in travel queries like "best oceanfront dining" or "romantic spots in downtown Santa Barbara" — no matter how good your place actually is.

I add full LocalBusiness, Restaurant, and Event schema on every build.

Not Written for Tourist Queries

Tourists search differently. They ask "best brunch in Santa Barbara for a bachelorette weekend" or "rooftop bars near the waterfront." Your website needs to match how tourists actually phrase things — not just your business name and a one-line tagline.
